We need your skills!

Are you a plot holder with us? Do you want to contribute to improving the running of the Society? If so, read on…

The Allotments are run by a small but dedicated team of plot holders, most of whom are long-standing members of the Society. The Committee are looking for one or two people with knowledge of machinery to help check, maintain and instruct in the use of the tools we have available to hire from the shop. There is a good number and variety of power tools available, but they need regular checks and maintenance in order to be utilised fully, as well as some guidance on their use. If you feel you could help in this area and give a small amount of time towards it, we want to hear from you! We are also looking for an electrician to consult on small issues and potentially help out with small fixes to our facilities. If you are interested, please email us using the details on the right, or talk to a committee member.

In addition, we are looking to raise funds for a new rotavator for general use by plot holders. The rotavators currently available are rather old, and hence difficult to maintain. Investing in a new one will increase our ability to help members with their manual tasks which are especially demanding at this time of year for some people. All donations will be noted and will allow that person use of the new machine free of charge up to the value of their contribution. The ever-reliable Mark Bye will be overseeing the purchase of the appropriate machine, while Rahelly Cutting Ben Meir is organising the fundraising. If you would like to know more, please email us using the details on the right, or talk to a committee member. If you would like to donate, please drop a cheque into the shop during its opening hours, or alternatively hand it to a Committee member.

Thank you!
